Module 1 Creating a Presentation in PowerPoint - Skills Review
1. Examine the PowerPoint window.
a. Start PowerPoint, if necessary then open a new blank presentation.
b. Identify as many elements of the PowerPoint window as you can without referring to the lessons in this module.
c. Be able to describe the purpose or function of each element.
d. For any elements you cannot identify, refer to the lessons in this module.
2. Enter slide text.
a. In the Slide pane in Normal view, enter the text TC Insurance Services in the title placeholder.
b. In the subtitle text placeholder, enter Company Security Division.
c. On the next line of the placeholder, enter your name.
d. Deselect the text object.
e. Save the presentation using the filename IL_PPT_1_Analysis to the location where you store your Data Files.
3. Add a new slide.
a. Create a new slide using the Title and Content layout.
b. Using FIGURE 1-22, enter text on the slide.
c. Create another new slide.
d. Using FIGURE 1-23, enter text on the slide.
e. Save your changes.
4. Format text.
a. Go to Slide 1, select the text TC Insurance Services, then move the pointer over the Mini toolbar.
b. Click the Bold button, then click the Underline button.
c. Select the text Company Security Division, click the Italic button, then click the Increase Font Size button.
d. Go to Slide 2, select the word Accurately, click the Font Color arrow, then click Orange under Standard Colors.
e. Go to Slide 3, select the word common in the third bullet point, click the Font Size arrow, then click 32.
f. Click the Font button, click Algerian, then save your changes.
5. Apply a design theme.
a. Click the Design tab.
b. Click the Themes group More button, then point to all of the themes.
c. Locate the Madison theme, then apply it to the selected slide.
d. Go to Slide 1, click the Themes group More button, locate the Parallax theme, then apply it to Slide 1.
e. Apply the Parallax theme to all of the slides in the presentation.
f. Click the first design in the Design Ideas pane, then close the Design Ideas pane.
g. Use the Next Slide button to move to Slide 3, then save your changes.
6. Compare presentation views.
a. Click the View tab, then click the Slide Sorter button in the Presentation Views group.
b. Click the Normal button in the Presentation Views group, then click the Notes button in the status bar.
c. Click the Notes button, then click the Next button on the status bar.
d. Click the Slide Show button on the status bar.
e. Click the More slide show options button, click Show Presenter View, then click the Pause button.
f. Click the More slide show options button, then click Hide Presenter View.
g. Advance the slides until a black screen appears, then click to end the presentation.
h. Save your changes.
7. Insert and resize a picture.
a. Select Slide 2 in the Slides tab, then click the Home tab.
b. Click the Layout button, change the slide layout to Two Content, then insert the picture Support_PPT_1_Group.jpg from the location where you store your Data Files.
c. Close the Design Ideas pane, then drag the left-middle sizing handle to the left.
d. Click the Undo button, then drag the bottom-left corner sizing handle down to the left to increase the picture size.
e. Drag the Zoom Slider in the status bar to the right until 100% appears next to the Zoom Slider.
f. Click the Fit slide to current window button in the status bar, save your changes, then close the presentation.
8. Check Spelling.
a. Open the presentation IL_PPT_1-2.pptx from the location where you store your Data Files, then save it as IL_PPT_ 1_Emergency.
b. Click the Next Slide button at the bottom of the vertical scroll bar.
c. Click the Previous Slide button at the bottom of the vertical scroll bar until Slide 1 appears, then click the Review tab.
d. Click the Spelling button in the Proofing group. The word incident is misspelled on Slide 2.
e. Make sure the word incident is selected in the Spelling pane, then click the Change All button. The word Responsibilities is also misspelled.
f. Click the Change button in the Spelling pane. A correctly spelled abbreviation appears in the Spelling pane.
g. Click the Ignore All button.
h. Click OK in the alert box, then save your changes.
9. Print a PowerPoint presentation.
a. Print all the slides as handouts, 3 Slides, in color.
b. Close the file, saving your changes.
c. Exit PowerPoint.
