Module 1 Integrating Word and Excel - Independent Challenge 2

As a member of the Beaver Island Arts Commission in Washington State, you are responsible for compiling the minutes of the commission’s quarterly meetings. You have already written most of the text required for the minutes. Now you need to insert data from Excel that shows how much money was raised from various fund-raising activities.
a. Start Word, open IL_INT_1-11.docx from the location where you store your Data Files, save it as IL_INT_1_BeaverIslandArtsCommissionMinutes, start Excel, open IL_INT_1-12.xlsx from the location where you store your Data Files, then save it as IL_INT_1_BeaverIslandData.
b. In Excel, open the Clipboard pane, clear all items if necessary, then copy the photograph and cell A2.
c. In Word, open the Clipboard pane, paste the photograph at the top of the Word document, change the text wrapping of the picture to Square, then position the photograph to the right of the first paragraph, keeping within the green guidelines.
d. Click to the left of “Approval of Minutes,” then paste cell A2.
e. Copy the Fundraising Revenue chart from Excel, then paste it in the appropriate area in the Word document.
f. In Excel, change the number of participants in the bake sale to 1000; then in Word, refresh the data in the chart if necessary. The Bake Sale slice should be 60%.
g. In Excel, copy the contents of cell E7, switch to Word, select “XX” in the paragraph below the chart, view the paste options, then paste the value as a link using the Unformatted Text selection in the Paste Special dialog box. Add a space if necessary.
h. In Excel, click cell G7, then calculate the total funds raised by adding the contents of the range B7:F7.
i. In cell B8, enter the formula =B7/G7, use [F4] to make cell G7 absolute, then copy the formula to the range C8:F8.
j. Copy cell E8, switch to Word, select “ZZ” in the paragraph below the chart, then paste the value as a link using the Unformatted Text selection, adding a space if necessary.
k. In Excel, change the number of participants in the bake sale to 1200; then in Word, verify the Bake Sale slice changed to 64% and the links updated to $60,000 and 64%. If the links do not update automatically, right-click them and click Update Link in the Word document.
l. Type your name in the Word footer, then save the Word document and Excel workbook, submit the files to your instructor, then close them
