Module 2 Formatting a Worksheet - Independent Challenge 1

As an accountant for Riverwalk medical clinic, you have been asked to review the expenses for the emergency room. You’ve organized the data in an Excel workbook, and now you want to format the data to improve its readability and highlight trends in expenses.
a. Start Excel, open IL_EX_2-3.xlsx from the location where you store your Data Files, then save it as IL_EX_2_Riverwalk.
b. Format the values in the Total column in the Accounting number format with two decimal places.
c. Format the values in the % of Total column as Percent format with two decimal places.
d. Format the values in the Inv. Date column with the Date format 14-Mar.
e. Apply bold formatting to the column labels and increase the font size of the labels to 12. f. Italicize the inventory Type items in column A.
g. Change the font of the Sales Tax label in cell K1 to Calibri.
h. Apply the Title cell style to cell A1.
i. Delete column I, then delete row 13. j. Merge and center the title in cell A1 over columns A1:I1.
k. Resize column widths as necessary, using AutoFit or by dragging, so that all columns are wide enough to display the data and labels.
l. Use the Format Painter to copy the date format in the Inv. Date column to the values in the Inv. Due column.
m. Change the fill color of the sales tax information in the range J1:K1 to the Light Turquoise, Background 2 color (first row, third column from the left).
n. Change the font color of the sales tax information in the range J1:K1 to the Dark Teal, Text 2 color (first row, fourth column from the left).
o. Add a bottom border to the column labels.
p. Use conditional formatting to apply blue gradient data bars to the Total column data. Do not include the total in cell H38 at the bottom of the column.
q. Add the 3 Arrows (Colored) (first set in the Directional group) icon set to the Quantity column to illustrate the relative differences between quantities. Do not include the total in cell E38 at the bottom of the column in this format.
r. Rename Sheet3 to Budget and rename Sheet1 to Actual. Change the color of the Budget sheet to Red in the Standard colors. Change the color of the Actual sheet to Purple in the Standard colors.
s. Move Sheet2 to the right of the Budget sheet.
t. Activate the Actual Sheet and spell check the worksheet. Correct any spelling errors.
u. Using Find and Select, replace all instances of Maxi on the worksheet with ACE.
v. Delete Sheet2, enter your name in the center section of the Actual worksheet header, enter the sheet name in the center section of the worksheet footer, then save the file.
w. Preview the Actual worksheet in Backstage view. Compare your worksheet to FIGURE 2-28.
x. Submit your work to your instructor as directed, close the workbook, then close Excel.
